Pergola Builder in Dallas-Fort Worth

A pergola is the easiest way to turn a plain patio into a place you actually want to sit. ALC Construction Pros designs and builds custom pergolas and arbors across DFW as a Pergola Builder, attached to the house or freestanding, in wood and low-maintenance materials.

Shade With a Bit of Architecture

Where a patio cover is about full shade and keeping rain off, a pergola is about filtered light and structure. The open slats break the sun without closing the space in, and they give climbing plants, string lights, or a retractable canopy something to live on. It is the piece that makes a backyard feel designed. We build pergolas to stand up to Texas wind and sun, with posts set properly for our soil so the whole thing stays square and solid for years.

Pergolas We Build

Freestanding pergolas

A destination in the middle of the yard, over a seating area, a hot tub, or an outdoor kitchen.

Attached pergolas

Anchored to the house to shade a patio or deck right off the back door while tying into the home's look.

Wood and cedar pergolas

Warm, classic, and stainable to match a deck. Cedar holds up well and looks the part.

Louvered and low-maintenance

Adjustable-louver and aluminum options that let you dial in shade and skip the upkeep. A modern look with more control over the sun.

Pair It With the Rest of the Yard

A pergola works beautifully over a new deck, alongside a patio cover, or as the anchor of an outdoor living space with a kitchen and fire feature. Add string lights, a fan, or a retractable canopy and it becomes the spot everyone gathers. Tell us what you picture and we will design around it.

Pergola FAQs

What is the difference between a pergola and a patio cover?

A patio cover has a solid roof for full shade and rain protection. A pergola has an open slatted top that filters sunlight rather than blocking it completely. Choose a cover if you want shade and dry space; choose a pergola if you want light, air, and a more open feel. You can add a canopy to a pergola for more shade.

Do pergolas provide real shade in Texas?

A standard open pergola gives partial, filtered shade that shifts through the day. For more coverage we can tighten the slat spacing, add a retractable canopy, or build adjustable louvers you can close when the sun is strong.

How much does a pergola cost?

It varies widely with size, material, and features. A simple wood pergola is one of the more affordable outdoor upgrades, while a large cedar or louvered aluminum structure with lighting costs more. A Dallas aluminum pergola builder can explain the material and design options after seeing the space, at no cost.

Do I need a permit for a pergola?

Freestanding pergolas under a certain size sometimes do not, while attached or larger structures usually do. It depends on your city’s rules across DFW. We check and handle any permit that is required.

Can you attach a pergola to my existing deck or patio?

Yes, if the deck or patio can carry the load, which we verify first. Adding a pergola over an existing space is a common and high-impact upgrade.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was a very good choice when I chose this company to do a great job in terms of design. Mrs. Zala did a wonderful design and the choice of the type of tiles, sinks and bathroom seat was more than excellent. The implementation was fast and perfect and they checked every little and big thing. Other than that, the cost price was very excellent. I advise everyone to deal with them as they are friendly and their choice of workers is safe and experienced👍👍👍👍👍👍
